Well, like I said it depends on the use you're going to give to your laptop...

Better is actually related to what you use to do on your computer...

If you're an avarage user, a Dual-Core is pretty good...
If you're a gamer, a CAD power user, or a multimedia producer, a Core 2 Duo is better...

It's all a matter of uses...

AMD Turion RM-74 2.2GHz

Better than the Core 2 Duo?

Let's say... it depends... AMD Turion and Intel Core 2 Duo are the concorrent processors of both companies... In general AMD have a better relation of price/power, but heat a lot more, while the Intel processors are in general more expensive (and a bit noisy), pointed to the gamers market, while AMD is aimed for the mainsteam market...

I have on AMD Turion X2 x64 and I'm very happy with what I've... although I also have a bit of hate relation against the Intel and nVidea (yes, i'm an AMD fan)

And your question:

Also! There's the question that AMD multi-core processors have all 4 cores, but in the case of the X2 model, two of them have factory defects, and in the X3, one of the cores is faulty... but that's just a story, and AMD doesn't recomend people to unlock the remaining cores, cause it could damage the processors (they were locked for a reason, right?)

i have an older AMD (2 years old, still dual core) and it doesn't make one bit of heat ever which is weird for a processor

They don't... they've and agreement with Intel, so, they use core2duo on pc's and xenons on servers...

And the guilt wasn't the processor, was the hard drive (HP problem is hard drives)

Hmmm... let's see... if you want a cheap pc, acer is the best... but if you wish a very good pc which can handle everything you throw at them... Buy a Toshiba... if you want an hdd or screen breaker, go to HP, if you want a easily broken pc with high price, go to dell...

Hi guys! I got a little caught up with my forum Silverfish (I created it) and the Flash trek Broken Mirror Series so I've not posted here for ages. Nice to see this forum run without me.
